It's back!

 

VB's starleague is back! Back for a second run after a pretty successful first outing in WoL. This time we get to play in a game that doesn't yet have a stable metagame and new strategies will be more common, hopefully giving those who thought they didn't stand a chance in WoL new hope! This tournament will be completely inhouse and will be played over a fairly lengthy period of time (from memory the last VBSL took 3-4 months). For those unfamiliar with the last tournament, or the VBSL in general, I'll give you guys a quick recount.

 

VBSL #1

 

VBSL #1 was a two-stage tournament. First we had a group stage which involved 4 groups with 6 players each. Each of those players would play 2 best-of-threes against each other over the season, playing one best-of-three a week. At the end of the season, the top two from each group would qualify for the playoffs, named the VB Cup. The 8 players that qualified last time were: Boony, Dead, Insane, Rhuubarb, Hydrid, Drnnn, Bandit and Randomness. They would playoff in a double-elimination bracket for the title of the VBSL. Everyone else was qualified for a consolation tournament named the VB Plate.

 

The biggest story of VBSL #1 was the rise of Bandit. Going from being in Platinum at the start of the VBSL, to becoming the champion and on his way to Grandmaster and a semi-pro team in the future. Who will be the big story of this VBSL?

 

What's happening with VBSL #2?

 

The VBSL will aim to start mid-April, a month from now. This is to give people time in the new expansion and time to consider if they want to play or not. It will also give applicants the chance to become full members, as only full members of VB will be allowed to participate.

The format is still up in the air, but there will still be the two-part season. With a ladder/group stage followed by the VB Cup (8 man double elim playoffs). I'm not sure about whether to do a group format or just a big ladder for the first part of the season. I will make my decision later based on how many signups we get (more signups means splitting into groups, less means a big ladder).

 

There will be seeding for the VBSL too (if there are groups). It will be based on the Clan Ladder when signups close, so play that to get a better seed. Also those who were in the last VB Cup may get seeded first either way.

I'm def in. What was the 2v2 thing? That was sort of fun too, but probs not very viable.

2v2 won't happen again because getting 2 people to schedule is hard enough, and getting all 4 is impossible on a regular basis.

so am i seeded in the playoffs already, since i manage to qualify for vbsl1? if not, then i cant join T.T

No, the seeds will be if there are groups, so that all the seeded players won't be inthe same group and knock eachother out, with current signups, there probably won't be groups.

 

If you are talking about your inability to play for a month or so, I can let you postpone your games.
